It takes Little to be Big by building raised garden beds and spreading joy to Decatur seniors
DECATUR, IL — This Mother’s Day, Littles and their mentors proved that you are never too young or too small to make a massive impact. In a beautiful display of community spirit, matches stepped up to celebrate the holiday by partnering with the Primrose Retirement Community of Decatur for a hands-on service project that brought generations together.
A BIG Day of Building and Blooms
The day was filled with hard work, teamwork, and plenty of smiles. The matches collaborated to build and plant custom raised garden beds from the ground up. The project didn't stop at construction; once the soil was set, the youth hand-delivered fresh flowers directly to some very special Primrose residents, bridging the generational gap with kindness.
Teaching the True Value of Service
The initiative offered more than just an afternoon of gardening, it was a powerful lesson in civic duty. By introducing them to an experience like this, our Bigs are leading by example and teaching their Littles the true value of community service.
