A generous ticket donation brings Bigs and Littles together to learn the power of resilience and perseverance.

DECATUR, IL — Decatur native and Super Bowl Champion Jacardia Wright returned home to inspire the next generation, and our matches had a front-row seat. Thanks to a generous ticket donation from Onward Injury Law, our Bigs, Littles, and families gathered at the historic Lincoln Square Theater on July 10th for an unforgettable evening titled, "Can't Bring Him Down: An Evening with Decatur's Super Bowl Champion, Jacardia Wright."

Inspiration Beyond the Field

Jacardia’s journey from a standout athlete at Decatur's St. Teresa High School to winning a championship ring in the NFL is a masterclass in determination. During his talk, he shared powerful lessons on overcoming adversity, navigating life's unexpected hurdles, and refusing to let challenges "tackle" your dreams.

At Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Illinois, we know that having a caring, supportive mentor is key to helping youth build confidence, navigate their own obstacles, and realize their full potential. Events like this do more than provide entertainment; they spark deep, meaningful conversations between matches and create memories that will last a lifetime.

We are incredibly grateful to Onward Injury Law for investing not just in this special event, but directly in the futures of the young people we serve.

Our Bigs and Littles left the theater inspired to tackle their own goals, having learned:

  • The Power of Perseverance: How maintaining focus and determination can turn a local dream into a world-class achievement.

  • Resilience in Action: Practical wisdom on how to view setbacks not as endpoints, but as opportunities for growth.

  • The Value of Community Support: The reassuring reminder that no champion makes it to the top without a team of mentors and supporters cheering them on.
