Seven years ago, when Milagro’s mother passed away, her Dad knew he needed to find another positive female influence for his daughter. He picked up the phone to call Big Brothers Big Sisters. Milagro’s friendships in the program have provided some quality “girl time” with women she can rely on consistently. Her Big Sister, Cindy, spends several days per month with the 8th grader. Their meetings include activities on Cindy’s Maroa farm, heading out to eat or hitting the movies. Recently they crafted a fleece blanket together. Like many fellow volunteers in Central Illinois, Cindy wanted to reach out and make a lasting impact on a young life. She and her fellow mentors truly make the BIG difference!
