Department of Education Project
This opportunity has is an educational focus. Volunteers meet with a youth in the 4th-8th grade range, working to meet the additional educational needs of each student. Our intent is to work with 150 children in Decatur Public Schools (District 61) at the most risk of eventual dropout. The child and volunteer also enjoy selecting fun goals developing assets and interests, such as acquiring new hobbies. This program carefully monitors the child's grades, behavior and school attendance records to track progress, and can include matches in either the Community or Site-Based setting. The DOE program is specific to Macon County.
